Young Living Essential Oils

So, you may have noticed that there are references to essential oils {specifically Young Living} weaved throughout many of my posts.  And for a good reason!  The fact is, essential oils have become a big part of my life and how I care for my family.  It’s hard for me to believe that I really just started using them a few years ago.  And although they are relatively new to many of us, essential oils have been around and have been used for centuries.  You can even find them mentioned several times throughout the Bible!  It is because of all the amazing/transformational things that I have seen these oils do, that I am excited to share with you what essential oils are!

Essential oils are the volatile liquids of a plant.  They are obtained from properly distilling any part of the plant including the seeds, roots, bark, stems, leaves, fruit, flowers or branches!  That is to say, they are the lifeblood and essence of the plant; what protects, nurtures, and causes that plant to grow & thrive.  So, it should come as no surprise to learn that they can offer us some of those same benefits.

Young Living Oils are primarily extracted through careful steam distillation, but also through cold pressing.  The careful, detailed process that Young Living goes through to produce their oils results in the purest essential oils available.  Young Living is and has been the standard for pure, unadulterated and therapeutic grade essential oils for over 20 yrs!

Pure – Clean, uncontaminated, undiluted.  Young Livings Seed to Seal® process insures that their oils are the purest of the pure.

Unadulterated – Do not contain synthetic chemicals nor compounds that are likely harmful to our bodies and at the very least render the oils ineffective.  This is key because it is estimated that upwards of 98% of essential oil out there can not make this claim.

Therapeutic grade – Beneficial to the body and helps to repair, restore and promote health.  Because they are so concentrated, essential oils are 50-70 times more therapeutically potent than herbs.  They provide natural preventative care with their antibiotic and other medicinal properties, as well as having a psychological effect.  In other words, they are very effective at balancing emotions and supporting wellness!

Because of this, Young Living Essential oils are not only safe to use aromatically and topically, but also internally.  In our household we diffuse the oils into the air that we breathe, rub them behind our necks, on our wrists and on the bottom of our feet.  We also drink them in our water, drop them under our tongues, take them in capsules and add them to many of the delicious edibles we consume.  The list goes on and on!

When you have essential oils in your pantry is like having an herb garden in constant full bloom!  Essential oils perfectly capture the essence of the living plant, in both aroma and flavor.  Because they are so potent, one drop is equal to a teaspoon of an extract or a tablespoon of dried herbs.  Also, pure oils are far more powerful and effective than dry herbs, delivering quick and effective results.  This is why I love to cook with them!

I want to include that, for health purposes, it’s best to add essential oils towards the end of cooking as high heat will destroy the therapeutic benefits.  As much as possible I use the oils in the preparation of natural raw foods that do not need to be cooked nor baked.  However, their mouthwatering flavor alone is reason enough to add them to any dish!

To learn even more about essential oils and their many uses, I highly recommend you watch this video.

When I first started using oils I signed up as a wholesale member & purchased the Premium starter kit.  It is the best value, and I believe the very best place to start.  It comes with 11 of the most commonly used/popular oils, a diffuser & several sample packs.  If I had it to do all over again I would purchase the exact same thing!
